POSITION OVERVIEW

The Data Team Manager, working within the European Office (must live in Europe), will lead the Data Collaboration Centre team and oversee projects and initiatives that the Data Collaboration Centre is involved in, including, but not limited to areas of Rare Disease and Tuberculosis. The successful candidate will also be the European Office representative on any global Data Collaboration Centre efforts or initiatives and will support the European Office leadership team on process improvements and strategic initiatives. The Data Team Manager will need to have prior experience with planning, conducting and management of data-related projects, preferably within the arena of drug development, as well as internal and external coordination with finance, scientists, regulators and other stakeholders to successfully manage and deliver the projects or deliverables efficiently. This position requires advanced skills and experience in preclinical or clinical data management, project management, knowledge of data privacy regulations, management and leadership skills, and experience in delivering successful outcomes on time, within budget and with high stakeholder satisfaction.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise the Data Collaboration Centre team (data managers and data engineers) within the European Office.

CORE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages and oversees the delivery of Data Collaboration Centre assigned projects or initiatives and serve as the primary point of contact for these activities to internal/external stakeholders.

  • Supports the European Office leadership team by providing input on strategic initiatives, proposals and the implementation of new or updated processes.
  • Collaborates with global Data Collaboration Centre members on department specific initiatives and process improvements.
  • Represents the European Office and/or Data Collaboration Centre at key conferences and project meetings.
  • Works with the Associate Director and other internal stakeholders on resource/budget planning and forecasting activities.
  • On behalf of the Data Collaboration Centre, prepare project plans/timelines, reports and summaries for key milestones or deliverables.
  • Support the preparation and development of procedural or requirements documents to meet project, departmental or European Office needs.
  • Line management of Data Collaboration Centre staff within the European Office.
  • Support developing strong, positive, professional relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
  • Exercise sound technical judgment when making decisions and adhere to external and internal policies and regulations
  • Travel as required for meetings


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proven experience as a project and/or team manager
  • Experience working on EC funded projects is desirable but not essential.
  • Evidence of effective management/oversight of multi-partner or stakeholder projects/initiatives.
  • Evidence of line management and resource development.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication, organizational, critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical
  • Experience working in and managing in a matrix
  • Knowledge of performance evaluation and change management
  • Ability to meet target deadlines and manage time
  • Ability to build relationships with internal/external
  • Ability to successfully anticipate issues or challenges and proactively address without being specifically directed.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite, project management software and business intelligence tools.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a remote setting.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in related/relevant field is required (e.g. life sciences, information management, statistics, computer science). An advanced degree is desirable.
  • PMI certification as a Project Manager Professional(PMP)is preferred and/or 7-10 years formal project/team management experience.
  • 7+ years' experience in scientific research data management in industry and/or academia, preferably experienced in preclinical and/or clinical data management.
  • Proficiency in SQL (PostgreSQL and/or MySQL) preferred
  • Competent in programming languages including Perl, Python, Java, C++, or Ruby
  • Experience working with cloud-based computer environments.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software (SAS Or 'R' preferred)
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR, HIPAA)
  • Knowledge of CDISC and/or OMOP data standards
  • Knowledge of ICH-GCP is desirable
